Which Product to Choose: While some exfoliants can be great for one person’s skin, they can
have adverse effects on another’s. Check the product to see if it is gentle enough to use on the
face, or if it is meant for the rest of your body. Be sure to check the ingredients for items that
haven’t agreed with your skin in the past, and test the product on a small area of skin before
applying it to a larger area. Products with more natural ingredients, like our Hydrating Almond
Scrub, are always a safer bet!
How often to Use: Exfoliating too much can be harmful to your skin, causing redness and
irritation that can take days to clear. Dermatologists recommend exfoliating 2-3 times a week,
and even those with great skin can benefit from this routine. Some products are made as a
scrub, while others are intended as a mask, so always check individual packaging for additional
instructions. Exfoliate on days with high exercise and activity, and on days with acne flare-ups.
What to Pair It With: Exfoliants are generally rougher in order to clear pores and remove dry
skin cells, and replenishing your skin after use is important. We suggest using a GENTLE CLEANSER
afterward to remove any excess dirt from pores, followed by a toner to balance your skin’s pH,
and a moisturizer for softness and hydration.
